Having been on both sides of the ledger, Dick Maccarone sees things from the business owner’s perspective. With more than forty years of accounting experience, he’s worn many financial hats since his graduation from St. Joseph’s University in ‘61—from accountant to auditor to CPA, then, as he progressed in his career, assistant controller to financial VP, to head of his own practice. Dick thoroughly enjoys what he does, and was immediately drawn to the way shareholders at Shechtman Marks Devor PC have consolidated such a diverse body of accounting, auditing and financial services acumen in one firm. This, he says, offers clients a firm built on a solid foundation with focuses that make each shareholder well-respected in his or her own right.
Dick most enjoys client interaction—working with business owners from start-up through strategic planning, consulting with them to examine the financial aspects of running the business at hand while lending insight that is both thoughtful and proactive. Now melding his portfolio of business with the client base at SMD, Dick is confident that the individuals he’s served over the years—many of whom are first generation business owners—will enjoy the same type of personal service offered by a sole practitioner, with the added bonus of a diverse team of knowledgeable principals, managers and staff.
